Most Likely to Change the World: Nissan Sentra CA

ROAD & TRAVEL's 2001 Most Likely to Change the World -- Nissan Sentra CAWe used to think that the only vehicles that could clean up our air, and therefore solve the pollution problems so many cities face, were electric cars. And if it weren’t for the limited range, the limited capacities, the limited, well, everything that electric cars force us to deal with, they might have been the reality. Fact is, as much as we want clean vehicles, we need real cars to help us with our real-world conditions. Well, enter the Nissan Sentra CA, a discreet compact sedan full of under-the-skin feats of engineering that, to make a long story of catalytic converters short, clean the air.

Although the CA takes normal gasoline, and burns it in a normal four-cylinder engine, the emissions from the tailpipe are virtually free of pollutants! Don’t ask us how it’s done, just know that you can buy one for only $15,319, only a few hundred dollars more than a comparably equipped Sentra GXE! The Nissan Sentra CA is the kind of car that you can feel good about owning, knowing you’re doing something really positive about the environment, while giving up nothing—nothing—to more polluting vehicles in terms of livability and style. After all, the new Sentra is good enough to win this year’s Most Vivacious Personality Award, our top honor for an entry-level vehicle, so to add environmental fortitude to the picture and you get one superb vehicle. Certainly the Sentra CA is good enough to earn our Most Likely to Change the World Award for 2001. And change the world it will—for the better.
