OnStar Helps Catch One of America's FBI Most Wanted Criminals

OnStar Helps FBI Catch One of
America's Most Wanted Criminals

Raiford Brown of Brentwood, Tenn. found his 2004 Hummer H2 had been stolen from his driveway during the night. Although unfortunate for Brown, his stolen vehicle report led to an arrest of a man who had escaped from police five times and was on the FBI's Most Wanted list.

Brown reported his vehicle stolen to the Williamston County Sheriff's Department. OnStar was then contacted to assist in recovering the vehicle. OnStar Advisor Lewis Baldwin located the vehicle and discovered it had crossed the state line and was traveling in Sharonville, Ohio.

With OnStar's assistance, police recovered the H2 and the suspect was arrested. Not knowing the identity of the man, his fingerprints were submitted to the FBI. It was then discovered he was wanted on eight federal warrants. He was awaiting trial on federal bank robbery charges when he escaped from a Louisiana jail in July 2003. Ironically, some of the officers saw the FOX television show "America's Most Wanted" the day before, when it featured the escaped federal prisoner.

Brown was happy to have his H2 returned and said, "I'll never drive a vehicle without OnStar in it."
