Live Like a Queen at Cleopatra's Day Spa in Fort Collins, Colorado

Live Like a Queen at Cleopatra's Day Spa
in Fort Collins, CO.

If you're in Fort Collins and are in the need of some pampering, treat yourself to a day at Cleopatra's Day Spa.

Janet Rossi, who left her 9-to-5 job in New Jersey to open this spa on the cusp of the Rockies in Colorado, offers several packages for every need. I experienced a trio of pampering during my afternoon visit.

The spa is set in what looks like a residential home, although the purple awnings hint at something more. Sunflowers growing along the front walkway coax you inside.

The house is comprised of several rooms painted and designed to comfort and relax, complete with hieroglyphics and a replica of Cleopatra herself. One of the walls in the lobby creates the illusion that you are standing on the porch of one of Cleopatra's palaces, looking out between two pillars at a lush garden and pond.

My first treatment was the salt glow body polish, where ground sea salts and essential oilswere applied gently on my skin. After I was covered in salt from head to toe, I was wrapped in a sheet and whisked off to a steamy shower where I stood for about ten minutes letting it all melt off.

I returned to the table for what Cleopatra's describes as an "ultimate" massage. I completely let go as every ounce of stress was worked out of my muscles for 90 glorious minutes. I felt unusually happy, bordering on downright giddy.

Next, I visited the lower level of the house for a pedicure. I sat back in a soft purple chair, soaked my feet in warm water, and listened to a few other women visiting the area, deciding where to go next - shopping.

My feet were scrubbed with more salt, massaged, oiled and dipped in hot paraffin wax as the final touch. Smooth and shiny, then perfected with brilliant purple polish. I told Janet that all of the purple surrounding me had gotten into my subconscious. Could my smile get any wider?

There are a variety of massages to choose from like the deep tissue massage for really tight muscles, a pregnancy massage, and the new La Stone therapeutic massage, which uses hot and cold stones to help stimulate circulation and melt tension.Cleopatra's also offers facials, mud wraps, manicures and pedicures -- all for reasonable prices.

Appointments are recommended, but if you decide last minute, Janet will try her best to accommodate you. From the beginning of autumn through Valentine's Day is normally the busiest time of the year.
