Suggested Time Savers For Traveling

People are more than in a hurry when they are traveling. This is when they need to save the most time they can make their travel plans go as smoothly as possible AND make their flight. What services are out there to help travelers plan in half the time with half the work?

Self-Service Check-In: Travelers will be relieved to know that they no longer have to stand in line to check in at the counter. A number of airlines have installed self-service check-in machines at airports around the nation. These machines allow passengers with or without luggage to begin their check-in with just one touch and receive their boarding pass -- often in less than 90 seconds. American Airlines has more than 700 AA Self-Service Check-In machines at more than 90 locations across the country.

Plan on Airline Web sites: Today's airline web sites provide a number of opportunities to make travel simpler. American Airlines' web site, AA.com, provides a host of features including booking airfare, car and hotel booking, checking flight departure and arrival status, viewing gate information, and learning about weather at destinations.

Online Check-in: Several airlines allow the new convenience of - checking in for your flight from the comfort of their own home. This allows travelers to head straight for the security checkpoint upon arrival and then on to the gate. American Airlines' AA.com online check-in allows passengers with domestic, e-ticketed flights to check in 30 hours prior to departure, select a seat and even print their boarding pass on their computer printer.

Flight Status Notification: Ever gotten to the airport and found out your plane is delayed or your gate has changed? Some airline web sites allow for proactive notification of status of flights and gate information. American Airlines' Flight Status Notification let's you sign up at AA.com to be contacted by phone, mobile phone, alphanumeric pager, personal digital assistant (PDA) and email with any flight updates before your flight.
