Can you fall head over heels in love with a city?

Rome is a city that seduces you with her ageless beauty, mysterious secrets and zest for life. The city is full of majestic strength, enduring artistry and romantic charm. This combination has made the ancient city one of the top European destinations for travelers worldwide.

However, with the crowds and busy schedule of Rome, the vacation-friendly city can also offer difficulty safey concerns and travel issues. According to Anthony Capozzoli, author of "Unabellavista Rome: How to Tour Italy," the European city can remain a safe, carefree place for travel with a few simple precautions. Here are some key tips to make the most of your next visit to Rome.

Travel Rome Safely

  • Be respectful and try to speak some Italian

  • Buy train tickets/rail passes online

  • Book museum reservations online so you don’t waste time standing in line

  • Call your credit card company to inform them of your trip ahead of time

  • Pack light for easy travel

  • Bring an empty duffel bag to carry any souvenirs home

  • Bring extra digital camera memory cards and/or film and batteries

  • Rent a mobile phone if you want to be contacted while traveling

  • Grab your hotel’s information so you can find your way back every day

  • Bring adaptors for your electronic devices

  • Keep a copy of your passport on you, but leave your original in a safe place

  • Consider renting an apartment instead of booking an expensive hotel
