Continental's "Safely There" Mobile Exhibit Tour:
Safety is on a Roll

The Safely There exhibit in front of the nation's Capitol.

You're driving on the highway, or across town on a surface street, or possibly in a residential area when, in your rearview mirror, you see a 37-ton, 18-wheel semi, a truck about one-fourth of the size of a football field. Admit it, you're concerned about safety at this moment.

If you see this truck, painted in vibrant shades of orange with a pleasing mural on the side of a young parent and child, you can feel at ease. Created by Continental, the truck is a traveling exhibit teaching the public about its Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a system designed to avoid crashes before they occur. Recent independent studies prove ESC technology saves lives, reduces crashes and rollovers, reduces costs to society and it is available to consumers in dealer showrooms today.

The "Safely There" truck tour also educates consumers about other vehicle safety technologies such as anti-lock braking systems (ABS), traction control systems (TCS), active rollover protection (ARP) and various aspects of tire safety. Now, you can admit it, vehicle safety should be a concern to all drivers, and at Continental's corporate mission is to make individual mobility safer, more comfortable and fun.

Continental named the exhibit "Safely There" to focus on the most important aspect of driving. It refers to a journey of any length and the desire for us, our children and all our passengers to arrive safely there.

After seeing the exhibit, taking the interactive safety quiz, viewing the video that recreates a stability control situation, learning from the information kiosks and experiencing the 3-D motion simulator ride, you will understand why Continental says "technology is our passion, but safety is our business."

From Detroit to Washington DC, Atlanta to New York City, Boston to Los Angeles and back again through Phoenix and Dallas, the "Safely There" mobile exhibit tour has already logged thousands of miles since July 2003 and will be still on the roll until December 2003.

Once set up, the truck expands to 85' length by 40' width and evokes an inviting environment of color and design, all while educating the public with its various interactive stations.

A highlight of the "Safely There" exhibit is an events center with a movie theater offering an exciting 3-D Motion Theatre Simulator, videos and seats connected to a multi-axis hydraulic motion simulator.

This year's tour concludes with the Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. on Dec. 30. When the cycle is completed, the tour will have visited 15 states and the nation's capital, traveled approximately 12,500 miles and sent its safety messages to more than 2.9 million people.

Still remaining on the itinerary are the following cities:

  • Charlotte, NC 9/18 - 9/21 Southern Women's Show - Charlotte
  • Orlando, FL 10/16 - 10/19 Southern Women's Show - Orlando
