The ICOTY jury, made up of nationally-renowned automotive journalists selected the 2012 Audi A7 as the most compelling car for the new model year. “The A7 is one of the most emotionally charged and exciting vehicles we’ve seen pass through the international car market in many years. Near unanimous, the jury agreed that this exciting and stunning new vehicle will emotionally connect with consumers in both mind and spirit,” said Courtney Caldwell, ICOTY founder and executive producer.

“The epitome of high design and technological innovation, the A7 has been one of the most celebrated cars in the U.S. market for Audi since its launch in 2011. We’re proud and honored that the A7 has been recognized by Road & Travel Magazine and the ICOTY jury as the 2012 International Car of the Year,” said Johan de Nysschen, president, Audi of America.

The trophy for the 2012 Audi A7 was presented to Mr. Johan de Nysschen at a private ceremony during press week of the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Presenters included jury members, Courtney Caldwell, Editor-in-Chief, Road & Travel Magazine and ICOTY founder; Denise McCluggage, famed automotive author and journalist; Martha Hindes, auto contributor to Road & Travel Magazine; and Ken Gross, auto writer for Playboy, Robb Report and Hemisphere's Magazines.

Sponsored by Bridgestone, the ICOTY Awards celebrate its 16th anniversary this year. “Through good times and bad, Bridgestone has continued to support ICOTY, which has allowed us to shine a spotlight on those vehicles that reflect the strongest emotional connection to consumer lifestyles through their design, technology, and lifestyle-compatibility,” adds Caldwell.

“It’s our honor to sponsor this award recognizing the excellence in innovation by auto manufactures, and we appreciate the longstanding partnerships, both in the showroom and on our highways, we’ve enjoyed with them. We congratulate Audi on their prestigious award and look forward to creating world-class products for OEM’s in the years to come,” said Michael Martini, President Bridgestone’s OE Division, of BATO.

About ICOTY
The ICOTY Awards were founded in 1996 by Courtney Caldwell, editor-in-chief of Road & Travel Magazine. Its unique and pioneering theme was created by Caldwell to recognize automakers that successfully design and market their vehicles to consumer lifestyles eliciting an emotional connection to, and passion for, the cars they own and drive, which translates into consumer loyalty. Today, many automakers use the ‘emotional connection’ theme in their national marketing and advertising campaigns to connect with consumers.
