2006 New Car Model Guide: Chrysler Cars, Trucks, & SUVs

2007 CHRYSLER NEW CAR MODEL GUIDE

Chrysler Vehicles clustered behind the Chrysler badge from Chrysler in 2007 include a convertible, racy two-seat sports coupes and roadsters, a crossover SUV and elegant minivans, plus stately sports touring sedans in the 300 series. But the biggest newsmakers in Chrysler's 2007 line are a large-scale SUV called Aspen and a new rendition of stylish Sebring the mid-size sedan.

Chrysler 300 Series
2007 Chrysler 300 Series

Chrysler's flagship series of large-scale sedans spawns a new Long Wheelbase package with more than 46 inches of backseat legroom. Three engines motivate 300 sedans through trims of base 300, Touring, Limited and 300C. Cushy leather-trimmed 300C totes a high-tech rendition of Chrysler's fabled HEMI engine. The 5.7-liter V8 makes 340 hp through an electronic automatic five-speed transmission teamed with Chrysler's AutoStick shifter. It comes with a multi-displacement system (MDS) that can switch to fuel-saving four-cylinder mode when all of that power is not needed. Chrysler sets the 300 sedans for rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction.

Chrysler 300C SRT8

The initials of SRT -- signifying "Street and Racing Technology" -- mark high-performance vehicles for Chrysler. For the 300C SRT8, that means a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 stuffed below the big hood with output reaching 425 hp. Special exterior modifications mark this one, like revamped front fascia with brake-cooling ducts and air dam or rear decklid spoiler. Its suspension tunes for tight sport work and brakes score four-piston Brembo calipers. The cockpit contains sport bolstered bucket seats with suede inserts and power-adjustable pedals, plus optional 13-speaker Kicker audio kit with knock-your-ears-off 322-watt amp.

Chrysler Aspen

Chrysler develops a tony rendition of the big Dodge Durango SUV in 2007 badged as Aspen. It packs premium appointments in a spacious cabin with room for up to eight passengers on three banks of seats. Powertrain is a 235-hp 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with MDS to save on fuel. RWD traction is standard for Aspen, but a four-wheel-drive (4WD) system is available with a two-speed transfer case and AWD mode plus 4WD high and low settings. A ceiling-mounted DVD screen is optional for rear-seat riders and it links to surround-sound audio equipment.

Chrysler Sebring

Chrysler's mid-size sedan under the Sebring name gets a complete make-over for 2007 with the shapely new look patterned after Chrysler's 300 series full-size sedans. Sebring trims in three versions -- entry-model Sebring, upscale Touring and deluxe Limited. And there are three powertrains. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing (VVT) achieves 172 hp as the base unit tied to a four-speed automatic. A 2.7-liter V6 rated at 190 hp is optional, but the top engine is a 3.5-liter V6 scored to 235 hp through a six-speed automatic with the AutoStick. Curtain-style air bags are also aboard.

Chrysler Crossfire

Chrysler's spirited two-seater is a RWD sports coupe blending slick American car styling with chassis and parts from Germany via Mercedes. The collection includes a hardtop coupe and open-top roadster in two trims -- Crossfire and Limited. Crossfire's engine is a single-cam 3.2-liter V6 good for 215 hp. Noteworthy tools on tap include anti-lock brakes (ABS) and all-speed traction control (TCS), even a non-skid device called electronic stability program (ESP). Standard safety equipment lists new knee air bags for both seats, and there's a monotone Bright Silver Metallic exterior paint scheme for 2007 issues.

Chrysler Pacifica

A new 255-hp 4.0-liter V6 mated to a six-speed automatic enlivens Chrysler's big crossover wagon with sheetmetal in a keen look. Pacifica for 2007 offers two powertrain choices with front-wheel-drive (FWD) or on-demand AWD traction. Base engine is a 3.8-liter V6 netting 200 hp with a four-speed automatic and Chrysler's AutoStick. The fancy cabin contains up to three rows of seats with individual buckets for rows one and two and a split bench in back for up to three riders. Pacifica's latest paint shade is called Cognac Crystal Pearl Coat.

Chrysler PT Cruiser

Chrysler's five-door wagon divides into four versions for 2007 with two powertrain choices. Models include a base PT Cruiser, the Cruiser Touring, Limited and GT. The first three draw from a twin-cam 2.4-liter in-line-four set at 150 hp. The GT pushes a turbo 2.4-liter four tuned for high output to 230 hp. Cruiser's interior structure is tall, which accommodates seats that rise high like chairs and creates voluminous space with access through four wide and deep doors plus the flip-up rear gate. Wild new paints emerge in 2007, like Pastel Yellow Clear Coat and Tangerine Pearl Coat.

Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible

The ragtop derivative of PT Cruiser looks like the lid of a conventional Cruiser was pried off and a shapely roll bar added to arch across the 2+2 cockpit like the curvy handle of a basket. This open-sky edition gets a power convertible soft top with rear glass window wired with an electric defroster. Entry model pulls from a 2.4-liter four-in-line plant rated at 150 hp, with the Touring model stocking a 2.4-liter turbo four for 180 hp. PT Cruiser Convertible in sporty GT trim gets the high-output turbo four with 230 hp.

Chrysler Town & Country

Chrysler's minivans in deluxe treatment come in standard-length and extended-wheelbase editions. Inside, the cabin shows seats in three rows with appointments like sycamore wood trim highlighted by satin silver accents. Safety gear includes curtain-style air bags stretching the length of the cabin above all outboard seats and an inflatable air bag positioned forward of the driver's knees. And Chrysler's inventive Stow 'n Go seat plan works with second and third tier seats folding into the floor. Top-end Limited edition stocking a 200-hp 3.8-liter V6 amounts to a fancy people-mover.
