The
G35 wasn't broken, but Infiniti decided to fix it anyway
for 2005. Rather than needing to repair any problems, the
Japanese auto maker strokes the good things to a new level
of perfection on this two-year-old that already has won
widespread accolades.
Performance
improvements for this rear-drive, three-version sedan set
hide under a sleeker, enhanced exterior, with new hood and
trunk plus front and rear bumpers. Extended body color on
the door sills blend into a smoother visual line. Dual circle
taillights add punch, and an available rear spoiler anchors
appearance and function. Inside, a redesigned instrument
panel and console get real aluminum and available Rosewood
trim. Sound is tweaked with Mp3 playback on the in-dash
6 CD changer for music geeks, or an available Bose premium
sound system.
The G35 (and G35x all-wheel-drive version) grunts into action
with authoritative 280 hp, 3.5 liter V-6 power, and 270
lb.-ft. of torque. The stick shift 6MT gets a horsepower
boost to 298. Under it all, a revised, optional sport-tuned
suspension rides on 18-inch tires with heftier brakes.
Plan
on taking someone special in the bucket seat up front. A
pair of friends in the rear get reclining seats for optimum
comfort. A fifth can go along, but won't get the contoured,
scooped seats of the outboard passengers. For more eye appeal
and variety, Infiniti also offers these enhancements on
a kicky, fully-equipped coupe in automatic and manual versions.
