by Bob Plunkett

2003 Ford Taurus
2003 Ford Taurus

The mid-size sedan and station wagon from Ford have new standard features, such as power windows, power door locks and a tilting steering wheel.

Trim levels encompass the LX, SE, SES and SEL models with Taurus SES spinning off a new Sport version for the sedan and SEL piling on luxury gear including rear wood plus leather for the shift knob and steering wheel. The Sport package brings two-tone cloth fabric upholstery for seats and touches of pewter, and a floor-mounted shifter stick.

Engines include Ford's 3.0-liter Vulcan V6 for 155 hp and a dual-cam version worth 200 hp. An exceptional four-speed automatic transaxle mates with either plant.
