Palm Beach
When it was completed, in 1902, Whitehall, Henry Flagler's Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach, was hailed by the New York Herald as "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander, and more magnificent than any othe rprivate dwelling in the world." Today, Whitehall is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public as the Flagler Museum, featuring guided tours, changing exhibits and special programs. www.flagler.org

St. Petersburg
The Florida International Museum has become Florida's premier cultural attraction, having attracted over 2.3 million visitors from all 50 states and over 100 countries since it opened in 1995. The Kennedy Galleries include over 500 items of a personal nature relating to the Kennedy family and includes a recreation of the West Wing of the White House and a Jackie Kennedy gallery.

In December 2000, the museum opened The Cuban Missile Crisis: When the Cold War Got Hot, a 10,000 square foot exhibition which transports visitors back to the 1960s through film, design, and music. The Salvador Dalí Museum is the permanent home of the world's most comprehensive collection of the renowned Spanish artist's work. Compiled by the A. Reynolds Morse and Eleanor Morse over a 45-year period, it is celebrated for its 95 oil paintings, and features excellent examples from Dalí's four major periods - Early (1917-1927), Transitional (1928), Surreal (1929-1939), and Classic (1940-1970s). The Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center features exhibits designed by anthropologists, historians and Native Americans to reflect the art and history of the area's first people. Tallahassee

Winter Park
The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art houses the world's most comprehensive collection of works by American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany, including Tiffany jewelry, pottery, paintings art glass, leaded-glass windows and lamps and the chapel interior he designed for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. www.morsemuseum.org
