Yes,
they have tornadoes in Kansas. They also have farms. But did
you know that they also have a near-desert in the state's
southwest corner that is complete with cactus and sagebrush?
Kansas
is home to many different landscapes, ranging from the skyline
of metropolitan Wichita to the rolling Flint Hills in east-central
Kansas, the largest segment of true tallgrass prairie in the
U.S.
Since
the people of Kansas are said to be some of the nicest in
the country, it's no wonder that so many pioneering women,
such as the first female mayor and the first African-American
female lawyer, have called Kansas their home.
Kansas
also offers something for visitors who tend to like things
that are a bit more unusual. For example, the Garden
of Eden, in Lucas, is the home of a bizarre assortment of
sculptures by a Civil War veteran. But that's not the strange
part -- the man lies in a glass-enclosed coffin and can be
viewed for a small fee. Enjoy!
