Gain Insight at the Women's
Museum in Texas
The Electronic Quilt -- This signature icon of the museum towers more than 30 feet high. Made of a matrix of 35 image patches of illuminated photos, quotes, colors, and video cubes, it is comprised of still and moving images and words excerpted from all areas of the permanent exhibits.

Going to Dallas on business anytime soon? If so, make sure to block off some time to make a date with history.

Our history as women, that is.

Since March is Women's History Month, you have the perfect incentive to visit the The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future. Not only will you learn a massive amount about our foremothers, we like to think you'll be whistling "I Am Woman" by the time you leave.

The nation’s first comprehensive women’s history museum, The Women's Museum is a place where the lives, accomplishments and achievements of women are celebrated. The exhibits chronicle the lives of more than 3,000 American women using state-of-the-art interactive exhibits to explore their contributions throughout American history, examine the similarities and differences among women’s lives across time.

Exhibits include:

  • Unforgettable Women
  • Mothers of Invention
  • Funny Women
  • Pathways to Health
  • In The Spirit
  • Business, Technology, and Beyond

The exhibit that has us itching to venture down to Dallas ASAP is the Poetry & Music Listening Room, where "rhythm and language meet is the essence of music and poetry," according to the museum's website. After you make a selection on the giant jukebox, you can just "lean back on the cushioned walls and allow yourself to be surrounded by the lyrical genius of women." Sounds lovely to us.

And if you're looking for a place to host a meeting or conference in the Dallas area, you might wanted to consider The Women's Musuem. It boasts a world-class conference center complete with the latest in audio visual, technological and catering capabilities. Free parking is also available. What more could you want?

IF YOU GO....

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future is open Tuesdays from 10am till 9pm (free admission after 5pm), Wednesdays through Saturdays 10am to 5pm, and Sundays noon to 5pm.
