Marketing & Promotions for Road & Travel Magazine

ROAD & TRAVEL's growth is a result of the
following marketing and promotions. These efforts have
given significant rise and recognition to RTM's brand
identity as a reputable automotive and travel online resource.


  • Ad Promotion: RTM publishes weekly; on the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. New content maintains reader interest and keeps RTM in the top rankings of major search engines.
  • RTM ranks high in search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL, appearing in the top 5 results for most automotive or travel keywords.


  • Content-Rich: Search engines favor content-rich sites especially those that offer informative content about popular topics, such as automotive and travel, which are two of the most visited categories on the Internet.

  • Newsletter: In support of each new issue, a newsletter is distributed via email to keep RTM top of mind with readers. Approximately 50,000 are distributed twice a month. [Sample copy]

  • PPCs: RTM advertises with Google and Yahoo. Links and photos are also optimized to increase traffic.

  • Event Marketing: RTM's International Car of the Year (ICOTY) is the largest auto awards show produced by a magazine in the auto industry. It receives continuing media coverage throughout the year. J.D. Power and Associates is the official auditor of jury ballots.
  • Auto & Travel Industry Promotions: Automakers publicize their awards in national advertising campaigns which include newspaper, magazine, Internet, billboard, and infomercial's. The travel industry has also enlisted publisher Courtney Caldwell for a variety of speaking engagements.
  • Media Relationships: MSN Autos and Edmunds.com have each served as a media partner on the ICOTY awards publicizing the event. Additionally, RTM distributes numerous press releases annually. Each media relationship publicizes the RTM URL.

  • Syndication: RTM syndicates its articles to newspapers, magazines and online publications upon request. General Motors, Court TV, USA Today, Lifetime, and Ford are among many who have used or sourced RTM articles on their websites or in other publications.

  • Credibility & History: Established in 1989 originally as a print publication, RTM has established a reputation as a reliable resource on which consumers can rely for honest and unbiased reporting.

  • Trends: A report by Millward Brown Intelliquest commissioned by MSN found that 78% of women reported that they used the Internet to get product information prior to making a purchase and 33% researched products and services online. The study also notes that 69% of the women surveyed go online daily. 60% of women noted they click on banner ads and 34% go back to an advertiser's site at some point after viewing the ad online.
